A special snoezelen/sensory rooms at Villa Pardoes
Eight years ago we realized a snoezelen/sensory rooms at Villa Pardoes. A place where children with a serious, life-defining illness and their families can experience a unique vacation: to relax, unwind and enjoy themselves together.
When this space was in need of renovation, we started talking again. Together with Marie-Louise from Villa Pardoes and our advisor Jim, the idea for a completely new snoezelen/sensory rooms was born.

The challenge: an organic space
Why this project is extra special
The space at Villa Pardoes required a different approach. No round or oval shape, but a completely organic space with a central pole. This called for creative thinking: how do you utilize every corner, how do you incorporate technology without visible cords and how do you ensure tranquility, safety and interaction at the same time? It was precisely this challenge that made this project so special.
From idea to execution, in close cooperation
Working closely with Marie-Louise of Villa Pardoes, our advisor Jim, designed a space that is fully in line with the target audience and vision of Villa Pardoes.
Bringing together ideas, experiences and desires created a snoezelen/sensory rooms that seamlessly combine experience, functionality and safety.
In the videos, Marie-Louise and Jim talk more about the collaboration, the choices that were made and what this snoezelen/sensory rooms can do for children and their families. In addition, we show in pictures what the space eventually looked like.
Podium
The organic stage as the heart of space
At the center of the space is an organically shaped stage, which integrates several snoozing elements.
The heated water lounger Seine invites deep relaxation and is equipped with a recess for a hoist. Below the water lying element, a music vibration substructure with two vibration trays provides additional sensory stimulation. Thanks to its integration into the stage, no cords are visible.
MultiSense Bubble Unit
Influencing the experience yourself
Built into the stage is the Multi Sense Bubble Unit where people can snoezelen/sensory interactively.
Visitors can directly influence the bubbles and colors through touch, sound or movement. This immediate response encourages engagement and activates the user, while the gentle changes in light also offer relaxation. Behind the bubble unit, an impact-resistant mirror enhances the visual effect.
Sensory experience in every corner of the room
Scattered throughout the space are various elements that create tranquility, wonder and sensory stimulation. For example, the Twinkle Cloud and magic globe invite one to look and experience, while the depth tunnel in the wall creates an optical illusion of infinite depth.
The space is finished with soft wall mats in a quiet shade of green. The bisonyl covering makes the environment safe and easy to clean, allowing carefree snoezelen/sensory.
The central pole in the room was utilized functionally by integrating a Sensiview into it. This projects room-filling images onto the wall next to the water lying element, combined with appropriate sound or music. The different themes stimulate multiple senses simultaneously and offer variety for a variety of needs.
In a separate corner, a place for retreat has been created, with a PrimaSit Dynamic chair and a FiberGlow shelf with waterfall effect. Together they create a nice, secure place for relaxation.
The result is a snoezelen/sensory rooms where everything comes together: safety, peace and experience. A place where families at Villa Pardoes can relax together and enjoy an unforgettable vacation experience.
