In addition to learning how to choose a menu and having a say in meal choices, it is important for the target population to become aware of what they are eating. We all want our children, students, clients, etc. to eat safe, varied and healthy meals. It is important to teach them to choose as well as healthy eating behaviors. Being conscious about food starts with paying attention to what you eat and why you eat it! Therefore it is important that they learn to put together a (healthy) menu.
The large laminated cards, divided into 12 categories, invite discussion about everyone’s meal choices, snacks, eating habits and about a tasty and healthy menu. The dice and chips provide a playful winning element. For participants with reading difficulties, numbers accompany the category names and pictures.
In addition to the quartet game version, the manual includes several other work forms that address knowledge, skills and menu choices. The working forms with chips and dice make it exciting by adding a win element. The green, orange and red chips can also be used to clarify opinions: green means “I like it,” orange means “I don’t know” or “I don’t know,” red means “I don’t like it. Or as a variant: green means ‘healthy’, red is ‘unhealthy’ and orange ‘I don’t know’.
On the menu wish list, participants can write down what they like or what they would like to eat (again). This encourages them to work on it at home.
The case includes game cards with pictures of meal components and dishes, a box of chips, 2 number dice, a block of menu wish cards and a manual with many game modes.
The game method “Choose Your Food!” is a nice complement to the case “I Choose My Food” with the menu turners with the picture cards. When you order both together, you pay no package shipping costs! Take a look at article 095: the suitcase ‘Choose My Food’.
