What is needed within your organization? To encourage the use of experiential care and/or the snooze room, the training can be composed of several components:
- Snoezelen: Sensory stimulation as a means of communication.
- Aroma care: Application of aroma care with hand massages.
Practical focus: The training consists primarily of practical components. With numerous practical examples and cases, you will gain a clear understanding of how snoezelen/sensory can be used most effectively within your organization.
For whom
Our basic training courses Belevingsgerichte Zorg are specially developed for participants with a registration in the quality register Verpleegkundigen & Verzorgenden Nederland (V&VN) and a valid V&VN registration number. This training is accredited with 6 credits. Are you a parent, family member, volunteer, professional or student? You too can participate in this valuable training. You will learn what experience-based care and snoezelen/sensory is and what added value it can have.
Learning Objectives
What is needed within the organization? To stimulate the use of experiential care/sensory rooms it is possible to build the training out of sensory activation as a communication technique (snoezelen/sensory rooms) and aroma care with hand massages. The training contains mainly practical components. Through the many practical examples and cases we offer you a clear vision of the most effective way of snoezelen/sensory activation within your organization.
Optional training may include:
- the vision behind experiential care and snoezelen/sensory.
- Your own role in experiential care/snoezelen
- sensory activation as a communication technique
- applying snoezelen/sensory as a tool to achieve goals related to the care plan through focused sensory activities
- explanation of anatomical knowledge for sense perception
- Specific knowledge of experiential care with smell (aroma care) and sound
Results
Upon completion of the training you will be able to better connect with the resident/client and apply snoezelen/sensory care as a methodology by using targeted sensory activities to achieve a care goal. You are now familiar with setting up snoezelen/sensory rooms and the effective use of snoezelen equipment, as well as the safe application of essential oils. Finally, you can also give relaxing hand massages to bedridden residents/clients, for example.
The skills from the training are perceived by caregivers as reducing workload and providing insight into the added value of experiential care.
